It started with my mom's building: full of community spaces, but no community.
CobuAI began with two problems cofounder Ben Pleat saw. Leasing was getting more competitive and expensive, with fewer ways to stand out. Meanwhile, his own mother moved to the city and found her property had many community spaces, but no actual community. He saw just how painful it was for her to feel isolated in her own home.
CobuAI set out to fix both: give renters a way to truly belong, and properties a way to stand out. Today that differentiation runs through AI search: authentic community is the signal AI trusts. The same belonging that once drove retention now gets a property found in the first place.
